The Clarinet gained prominence during the romantic period of music history. Invented during the late 1600’s as an improvement to the Chalumeau, considered the first true reed instrument the clarinet has since become the largest such woodwind family. Since then the clarinet has been prominent in many genres of music from classical music and jazz to modern music from the likes of The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
