| Gibson hails John Lennon connection |
Electric guitar manufacturer Gibson has noted the key role its instruments have played in the career of John Lennon. According to the company, the guitar played by the late Beatle at his legendary Live In Gibson also noted that two more of its iconic guitars have also played a major role in Lennon's career. This was an acoustic guitar that he treated to a psychedelic paint job back in 1967 - the height of the Summer of Love and the year in which Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was issued. In addition, Gibson noted that throughout the 1970s, Lennon frequently chose to play a modified Les Paul Junior. The company noted that this is the instrument he played during his "classic" 1972 performance at Madison Square Garden, during which he treated the crowds to songs such as Come Together, Mother and Instant Karma. |
